The Membranes at The Lexington
I become a bit of a fan of the Membranes after catching them at Rockaway Beach. Tonight they played at the Lexington with a choir on a very cramped stage and at a reduced power so that they didn’t overpower the choir. But it all added to create a pretty special sound at times. Combining the Membranes punk quite sublimely with the beautiful sound of the choir to create a sense of space. Unfortunately, as much as I love the Lexington, just once, it didn’t suit the evening as it was too cramped. Hopefully, the Membranes will get an opportunity to play with a bigger choir at a larger venue in London.
Support came from Black Crack who didn’t do much for me, and Thee Fiction who’s pop politics I quite enjoyed.
