Jimmy Page

Jimmy Page

Not a gig, but a talk by Jimmy Page about his life in music. The event was part of a series of talks being held by the Guardian. It was mainly an opportunity for Jimmy to talk about the release of his updated photographic autobiography.

When you’ve had a career like Jimmy and led what might be best called an ‘interesting’ life. There’s enough to talk about to hold your interest. The key to these events is for the interviewer to allow the interviewee to talk. Luckily tonight’s interviewer did just that. Keeping the talk on track and structuring it around a set of key photographs from the book. So although he didn’t challenge Jimmy on the more salacious aspects of his life, it offered us a good insight into the working portion of Jimmy’s career with lots of anecdotes about his time as a session musician, his time with Zep, but also work since then with the Firm, Coverdale, Page and Plant, and the more recent Zep O2 gig. All in all, a very enjoyable evening. I just wish Jimmy would pick up his guitar and hit the road again.
