Amelia Coburn at the Royal Albert Hall

I don’t live on Teesside anymore. I haven’t for 30 years. But I still like to support Teesside artists where I can. It is so difficult for North East artists, but Teesside artists especially, to find any recognition on the national scene. Local lass, Amelia Coburn, has been making waves in the folk scene for a few years. Tonight, her journey culminating in her playing the Royal Albert Hall. Yes, it was Elgar Room, not the main hall. But the idea of a Teesside artist playing the Royal Albert Hall is a massive thing. Tonight’s sold out event, full of my local accent, felt like home from home. Everyone in attendance to support Amelia playing her goth folk and hear anecdotes about leprechauns and French landlady. Tonight, was a fun and beautiful evening.
