Bully
Bully are a band from Nashville playing with a 90s grunge sound. I’d seen them at the Great Escape but they clashed with a football playoff so I only saw a few songs before heading to watch the match. I’d also watched them from upstairs in the Haunt so didn’t really see what they looked like. The way the signer sang and owned the stage, I was expecting a tall confident looking girl to take the stage, so I was surprised to find a small, sweet, quiet looking girl taking the stage. But once the music started, she exuded confidence. It helps that there’s a solid band behind her.
Support was from Whistlejacket and Big Deal. Both bands I’ve seen a few times. Big Deal I feel work better as a recording group as I think on record they have a brighter sound more melodious sound and Whistlejacket have never really impressed me. But tonight was definitely a much better performance than any I’d seen before. I might have to change my opinion.
