Label Mates at the Shacklewell Arms (Sunday 15th March 2015)

Closing the Label Mates festival were bands from Heavenly Recordings. I’d been hoping that Heavenly might bring The Wytches. But instead it turned out to be Toy headlining. A nice conciliation prize.

Opening the afternoon were Kid Wave. A band I was planning on catching towards the end of the month, so pleased I had an earlier opportunity. I was really impressed by this group. Maybe familiarity with their material helped. But I enjoyed their set.

Hotton Tennis Club, a band I saw at the end of February. I quiet liked them then. Tonight was similar. There was enough interesting about them to give them a listen to in future.

A departure for the week was an acoustic set from Eaves. It was pleasant, but nothing more.

Next up were the Voyeurs. I’m not sure if I liked the music. But I did really enjoy their performance. They’re tight, full of energy and by the end of their set they’d won me over.

Closing the evening and the mini festival were Toy. A band I’ve seen a few times. They’re a good band and tonight they put in a fine performance that I think the crowd really appreciated.
