Hamish Hawk at Rough Trade West

Second night in the presence of Hamish Hawk in the same week. This time an intimate solo acoustic gig at Rough Trade West for his ‘album release’. Despite the fact the physical release of ‘Angel Numbers’ has been delayed, Hamish was in good spirits, having hot footed it on the train from Southhampton to play the gig. This was my first opportunity to see Hamish stripped back to his voice. Putting the words, not his stage performance to the fore. What a privilege it was to see the rawness early audiences must have seen. He also included a request, ‘Catherine Opens a Window’. Such a beautiful song that I guess he feels doesn’t sit within his full-band sets. Maybe he should consider doing encores? This would be a perfect first encore song.
