Advertised as a secret guest, despite hints, I had no idea who this was going to be. Probably if I knew, I wouldn’t have turned up. When the middle-class are unfairly over represented at all levels of the music industry, nepo-babies highlight how connections and money help pave the way into the industry. Tonight’s artist was Cruz Beckham, playing some ‘smaller venues’ to create a pretence that he’s earned his right to be on bigger bills. For somebody who’s hardly played live, there was a significant amount of expensive kit on stage for what was an average performance. Good luck to the lad. But I suspect he doesn’t need any.
