Pale Blue Eyes
Pale Blue Eyes’s stagecraft keeps getting better and better. This tour, the addition of a new keyboard player sees them with a more expansive sound. On the evidence of tonight at the Horn, they have gone up another level.
Opening the evening were Cruush. Playing fuzzy shoegaze, they were the perfect support. Their set was an enjoyable warmup.
Pale Blue Eyes have improved each time I have seen them. Constant touring has helped them become more confident in their sound. One limiting factor was their reliance on pre-sequenced backing tracks. On tonight’s evidence, adding in a keyboard player really has taken the breaks off them. Tracks now have the space to breathe with their psych-tendencies allowed to come to fore, but without ever loosing their pop sensibilities.
