LIFE

Two gigs on the same day featuring LIFE, for the release of their album, North East Coastal Town. The first at the LP Cafe in Watford. A place I didn’t know existed. It was a stripped back intimate affair with no drums and everyone squeezed into the small show. The evening’s gig was a return to Rough Trade and a full show.

I had listened to the album a few times since it’s release. It is a more mature album. But on first listen, it seems to lack the immediacy and indie pop sensitivities of previous albums. For example, Duck Egg Blue had been release as a single and hadn’t connected with me. However, live, it is a different beast. Absolutely beautiful song and great live. It sits well in the set creating a moment of calm reflection. The other songs on the album also work well live. LIFE remain one of the best live acts. Well worth catching.
