Black Honey at the Garage

Black Honey are a band quickly becoming a bit of a favourite. They’re definitely a band you need to see live. Much of this is down to Izzy, the lead singer, who has great energy. Tonight they were part of a bill that included Kagoule and East India Youth.

Opening the evening were Kagoule. Kagoule are a band right out of the 90s. They wear their influences on their sleeve. Clearly inspired by bands like the Pixies and the Smashing Pumpkins, they put in a really enjoyable set. It was also a pleasure to see a bass player make an effort rather than skulking at the back of the stage.

Closing the evening was East India Youth. I’ve seen East India Youth before and although I enjoyed the music, I’m not a fan of people twiddling knobs and stating behind a desk. So as he was on last, and they were running late. I ducked out for a slightly early night.
