My aim this year is to do more ‘randoms’. Going to gigs of bands I know very little about. In this case, I’d seen that Bernald Butler was playing the Lexington with his band, Trans. With strong heritage, I thought it was a no-brainer and I’m really glad I went.

Trans are almost ‘prog’. I know it’s not fashionable to be a ‘prog’ band. But what’s wrong with a band who seem to be able to play with freedom and take songs in directions that the mood dictates?

Wow. I have to admit I was impressed. The guitar sounds
