Last minute decision to drop in on Northhampton Square where Young Fathers were doing a ‘Bandstand Busking’ session.

I’d seen Young Fathers at SXSW and as with most rap, I was unimpressed, especially as they were heavily touted. However, I’m always open to new sounds. So I thought it would be interesting to hear them unplugged and what a good decision it was.

Backed by a simple boom box, the group were left to focus on vocal performances. Stripped of their backing materials, I was really impressed by their performance. Really glad I made this last minute decision

Twilight Sad at Bandstand Busking

I think I saw Twilight Sad at SWSW but I don’t remember them registering as a band to followup when I got home. But as they were playing a free acoustic gig in a bandstand and I was nearby I thought it was worth giving them another try and I’m glad I did as the songs sounded great acoustically.
